World Championship 2022: Velez and Astros players have fun guessing weird questions from mascots to Halloween during Media Day

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – During the World Championships media day, some questions puzzled players on both teams, but had nothing to do with the game.

When you’re faced with a huge media crowd, you’re sure to stumble upon a question or two. “That’s a tough question,” said Astros player Seth Martinez.

When you’re four games away from a championship, finding the answer isn’t always easy. “Okay, you got me here,” Martinez said.

ABC13 asked players about both sides. But not from each other. We asked them when it came to their amulets, who would take the title?

“Both are green with a belly,” Astros player Ryan Stanek explained. “I don’t know. I’ll go with Orbit because he’s our guy.”

“We’ve got the best mascot in the entire league for sure,” said Astros player David Hensley.

“Orbit is very creative,” Martinez said. “He has his own style. He has his own way of captivating audiences. So, Orbit.”

Astros have the back of the mascot, but they still need to know more about it. “His tongue? Is it green or orange? I don’t know,” said Astros player Kyle Tucker.

“Is it orange?” asked Hensley. “His tongue? Orange,” Stanek asked.

Tricky question because Orbit doesn’t show his tongue. As for Orbit’s favorite food, no one seems to know he’s enjoyed moon pies, according to him Curriculum Vitae.

“Orbit? No,” said Cristian Vasquez, the Astros masker. “I’m new here so I have to talk to him.”

Feliz possesses one of the best amulets ever. Phillie Phanatic is a member of the Amulet Hall of Fame. “The Phanatic has the advantage of scale,” Phillies player Kyle Gibson explained.

“There is only one answer for me,” said Alec Boehm of Velez.

“I’m a little biased, but I have to say Phanatic,” said Phillies player Brian Kaplan.

Feliz stands beside their mascot, but when it comes to figuring out where the Phanatic came from, they’re at a loss.

“Oh my God, it must be from a faraway land somewhere,” Gibson said. “There is no evidence,” Kaplan said. “No evidence at all.”

according to Phanatic’s biographyHe came from the Galapagos Islands.

While there is controversy over the team’s mascot, they both share a common bond in this world championship. We are not talking about Fall Classic, but about a holiday in the middle of it.

Monday Halloween. It is also the third game. This does not mean that they cannot have fun.

“I have one of these T-rex costumes,” Tucker said. “I don’t really wear it. I think I did once.”

“I think we’re supposed to be the Flintstones, but we’re having a hard time finding costumes in our size, so maybe we’ll dress her up,” Stanek said.

“My daughter will be a deer, and my son will be a pirate skeleton,” Kaplan said.

“Last year at the World Championships in Atlanta, kids were tricked or treated at the hotel,” Stanek recalls. “We had dessert for everyone.”

The hotel tradition players are planning to participate again as they will be on the way to celebrate Halloween. Which means that players without children need to eat candy.

“Now I’m better,” Martinez said. “If that’s a thing, I’d better have dessert.”
