Wisconsin dominates New Mexico State 35-0 in the first half

Wisconsin completely eliminates New Mexico State 35-0 at the end of the first half at Camp Randall. I can’t say we learn much about the Badgers other than that they can destroy an opponent like no other. Is this kind of game a good thing for Wisconsin before the huge Big Ten opens in Ohio next Saturday?

At the very least, the Badgers have cleaned up some of the mistakes that befell them in a surprising loss in their home state of Washington last week. The O-line created big holes for the rider’s back, passing game some life behind QB Graham Mertz in limited opportunities and the defense could be on its way to a second close in the first three games.

Penn State Auburn leads 14-6 in the first half

The Penn State defense had two well-timed takeaways today, and that made the difference along with Penn State Auburn holding two field goals during a pair of red-zone trips. It was also a showcase for the future of this defense with new quarterback Abed Carter that safety freshman Zacky Wheatley forced his interception. Freshman running back Kaytron Allen scored a touchdown and also had a great 17-yard trail. Auburn will need to regain some momentum here at the start of the second half.

Looks like Auburn’s QB TJ Finley is pulling his arm

TJ Finely appears to be pulling his right arm a bit as Auburn runs into the tunnel. PSU reaches 14-6 in half. Auburn gets the ball to start the second half. Both QBs have gotten very few hits on this already. Quite the game unfolds here.

Big game feelings

Anecdotally, it really does look like a big game here today. Horrible traffic (construction/lockdown factor too), and lots of Michigan fans in town. It should be a fun atmosphere.

Don’t underestimate football in Kansas

Kansas and Houston tied at 14 at the start of the second quarter. The Jayhawks started 2-0 this season, beating West Virginia last week in movie overtime, 55-42.

Quarterback Jalon Daniels is a 5 for 10 for 48 passing yards today but the real movement was on his feet. Daniels rushed for 70 yards, including a 12-yard gain in the middle for the Kansas TD in the first quarter.

Penn State RB Kaytron Allen Lowers TD Racing

Penn State RB Kaytron Allen tops the cut-off drive to run the TD. Allen looks great today after Singleton was that guy last week. PSU is higher at Auburn 14-6 with 1:46 left in the half.

Georgia Tech’s offensive line is MESS

I know the offense is generally a mess, but you can’t have a functional attack without some help up front. Yellow Jackets’ employees are not well recruited and not well developed on the line and this is not going to work.

Vanderbilt Tracks Half 21-14

Vanderbilt’s poor finish in the half, which gives up a 51-yard touchdown track to northern Illinois with less than a minute to play, then mismanages the clock in the next possession to miss a point opportunity.

Surprising QB starter and real freshman AJ Swann was fine — 10 for 14 and 101 yards and touchdowns — but Vanderbilt’s defense was anything but, despite NIU hitting the start of QB Rocky Lombardi out of the game. The Mummy Husky scored touchdown points on all three of their possessions, threw no shortages, and advanced 21-14 and grabbed the ball to start the second half.
